March 10, 1997 – Monday – 9:45 p.m.

Last night there was a family get-together here at Kate’s house.  We ate steak, played with her new nephew Hunter, and sat in the hot tub after everyone left.

It was a good day.

Today came and it is now already over.  It too was a good day.  I was dropped off at the movie theater while Kate and Charlie went to some bookstores.  I saw Secrets and Lies and Shine.  They were both so wonderful, but Secrets and Lies got me where it counts.  It looked into eyes.  It looked into souls.  It did what I do every day; it watched people.

I was picked up and then we headed to Clearwater to see the Highlanders at the Hampton.  We eventually found it and I walked into the lobby and there was Timothy.  I ran up and hugged him, and the next thing I know, everyone is shouting my name and I’m immediately hugged by dozens:  A.J., Andrea, Eddie, Lisa, Tracey, Ann-Marie, Dawn, Rachel, Derek, Natalie, Missy, and even Abigail.  They all looked great.  It had been only four days since I had seen most of them, but when you see someone other than where you normally see them…it’s a big deal, and we had a special little reunion.

A smile filled my face the whole night.  Gayle was even there.  I sat next to the coolest little old lady during the concert.  She has 12 children and 65 grandchildren who all live in Michigan.  Wow!

Andrea asked me to go to the Spring Formal with her.  I told her I’d think about it.

We left and ate a breakfast-dinner at a local restaurant.  Our beautiful waitress’ name was Jasmine.

I got in the hot tub again and stared at the stars.

Good movies, good friends, good music, good food.  Does it get any better?

March 9, 1997 – Sunday – 1:37 p.m.

I am in Kate’s red Ford Explorer somewhere around the middle of central Florida.  We left on Friday and arrived at Jim and Lisa’s house early Saturday morning.  We stayed the night, went to the pool with them, then Kate, and Charlie and I went to see Jerry Maquire.

Afterwards, some people came over for dinner and we played card games.  We went to their church this morning, had lunch together, and now we are on the way to Tampa.

Charlie and I had a great long talk last night.  He is wonderful. I’m learning a lot about myself.  I told him about Abigail, and he said that me sharing my feelings with her ended the mystery and girls are addicted to mystery.  Perhaps I need to learn how to play relationships games, even though I hate them.

We just did the Spook Hill thing in Lake Wales, Florida.  Weird.

Jim’s church has tons of old people in it.  That’s basically all it is.  One old lady even passed out during the service.  It was kinda scary, but Jim said it happens nearly every Sunday.

It was so great to see them and the kids.  The weekend was full of laughter and I look forward to the week ahead.

Lord please show up and change me into the person you want me to be.

January 31, 1997 – Friday – 10:10 a.m.

The Special Edition of Star Wars comes out today.  Josh, Ann-Marie, and I are going to go tonight after my rehearsal.

The sun is shining so brightly through my window.  God is so good.

Last night I called Abigail just to talk.  We talked for about 45 minutes; just about ourselves and the Lord.  She is amazing.  She is unique in herself.  She told me more about the whole K.C. thing and I told her about Emily.

After rehearsal I went to Cannon Lobby where I talked with Vince, Charlie, Kate, Dan, Jeni, and Tracey for a couple of hours.  Those people are the greatest.  I laughed so hard I cried.  Jeni treats me so wonderfully.  The Lord has blessed me so much.

January is over.

It looks like I might go on a cruise for Spring Break.

The show opens in 13 days.

September 1, 1996 – Sunday – 1:40 p.m.

Friday night, I went to Boone with Charlie, Kate, Dan, and Vince.  We just did nothing.  We went to the mall and just drove around.  Kind of boring, but I was with my friends and I fear one day I won’t get to see them as often.

I also received a new camera in the mail yesterday.  I had to get it for my Photography class.  It’s really neat.  It’s a fully manual Pentax 35mm camera.  Nothing automatic about it.  So, I went out and took a lot of pictures.

Saturday morning, Vince and I went to Asheville to pick up Braveheart that Sharon bought for me.

Church was so wonderful this morning.  Laura was there.  She was so beautiful next to her mother.  I talked with her this morning.  It is so good knowing she is my friend.

There is a soccer game at 2:00 p.m.  I told Kate and Rachel Anne that I would come and watch.

Life is simple and peaceful.

August 19, 1996 – Monday – 11:11 a.m.

Dan came in yesterday afternoon.  It was so great to see him.  We were all so excited.  He brings so much joy to all of us.

Allen and I had to go to a new student meeting and then Dan’s mom and dad took us all out to eat at The Tartan.  We visited Charlie’s house and watched The Net on HBO.  Vince and I got up early this morning to go to Boone.  We bought some supplies for life.  And now I’m simply taking it easy before classes start.

For Fall Break, it appears we are going to Kate’s house in Tampa, Florida.

For Thanksgiving, I’m going with Vince to New York.

For Christmas, I’ll more than likely go home to work, but I might take some sort of trip.

For now, I’m not sure about Spring Break.

Well…here we go…my Junior year is beginning.

October 31, 1995 – Tuesday – 10:55 p.m.

On September 14, 1994, a Wednesday, at 6:17 p.m., I wrote:

Something happened today.  I saw a girl.  I don’t know her name.  I don’t know her.  But she caught my eye like no one else has up here at Lees-McRae College: my new home.

I remember that girl to be Penny W.  She was at the carnival last night.  She smiled at me.  We talked a little bit.  I found myself thinking of her as I fell asleep last night.

I just got back from the concert.  I had such a good time.  Charlie, Kate, Dan, Vince, Mike, Michelle, Lisa, Miki, and Suzanne all came from the college.  We all praised the Lord together.

Laura was there.  We are going to go over to her house on Thursday to eat dinner and play Taboo.  Dan really likes Laura, but then again, I once did as well.  Hmm.  I probably still do.

And to add to the festivities, Kate was baptized in the river behind the church.

Everything is great.  But although I had wonderful friends and beautiful girls all around me tonight, there were times when I would look up from the midst of the crowd and still feel very lonely.

But as I look back in this section, I see so many little details that point toward the fact that I am not alone:  Discovering Regent University, being viewed as the best RA, bringing Allen to the Lord, Erica and Kristen.

What a wonderful life I’ve been given.

There is so much love all around me.

October 17, 1995 – Tuesday – 1:15 p.m.

Yesterday, Charlie and I went to Boone to the Christian bookstore.  We had fun.  He is so great.  Kate accepted Jesus into her heart.  She is going to be baptized soon.  The Lord used Charlie and now Kate is a part of the Kingdom of God.

Last night, Dan, Mike, Vince and I went hiking around Hawksnest Ski Resort.  We just wanted to hike the slope up to the top and watch the sunset.  While there, someone asked us to move Mike’s truck out of the parking lot.  We did and then continued our hike.  On the way back down the slope, flashlights were shined in our face and, well, we got arrested for 2nd Degree Trespassing.  They thought we were stealing golf balls.  The person who asked us to move the truck said to the police that he asked us to leave.  But we said he just asked us to move the truck, we didn’t know we were supposed to be there.  It was just an innocent little hike.  I have to go to court on November 16th.

It was actually kind of fun, being questioned and taken down to the Seven Devils Police Department.  I’m hope I’m not in serious trouble; a wonderful memory to look back on.

Jonathan called the other night, he is not doing so good.  Some gay guys are giving him some trouble.  What will become of my best friend?
